Our Year 6 Math – National British Curriculum lessons are designed to support students in mastering the fundamentals of mathematics while preparing them for more advanced studies.
This curriculum, widely taught in the UK and also followed by schools in the UAE, focuses on developing fluency, reasoning, and problem-solving skills through real-world applications.
The course covers a broad range of topics:
- Number & Place Value: Reading, writing, and understanding numbers up to 10,000,000.
- Arithmetic: Mastering addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with large numbers.
- Fractions, Decimals & Percentages: Understanding their relationships, conversions, and problem-solving applications.
- Geometry: Coordinates, classifying 2D and 3D shapes, angles in polygons, circles, and properties of triangles/quadrilaterals.
- Ratio & Proportion: Solving real-life problems involving ratios and scaling.
- Measurement: Units conversion, area, volume, and angles.
- Statistics: Analyzing data using pie charts, line graphs, and calculating averages.
- Algebra: Using formulas, sequences, and solving simple equations.
Students are continuously assessed through formative tasks (reasoning, problem-solving, assignments)
and a final summative assessment at the end of the year.
